Fair Distribution of Political Power
There is one thing that does more than any other to guarantee a fair society: lots of new millionaires.
New millionaires means there is an opportunity to make a lot of money in a relatively short period of time. New millionaires means that people other than the same old aristocrats have the opportunity to profit from the market. New millionaires means that new people aren’t shut out of making fortunes by monopolies, mean taxes or thieves. Want to know what new millionaires want? Influence – which is good for everyone. Influence and power shared broadly helps to ward off corruption, suppression and complacency – things start to move. New millionaires are how we avoid the Serf’s Spiral 1.
Never before has it been more clear that you need money to buy influence and power. You need money to buy lobbyists to communicate with political staffers, to buy access to politicians’ schedules or to run for office yourself. If you don’t have money for all or any of those things, no one will listen to you or care about what you care about 2.
But few people become millionaires by getting and holding a job – most new millionaires make their money by starting and growing businesses.
